REPRINT #111 - GEORGE McBRIDE ~ Washington Senators Reprint of 1917 early candy cards by Zee Nut candy maker This reprint card of an original 1917 card by the Collins-McCarthy Candy Co. (American Card Catalog number is E135, denoting an Early candy card) was issued several years ago although the issuer and exact date is unknown. The card is marked "Reprint" on the reverse side/lower right corner and, like the original, measures 2" by 3-1/4". Each card features a black and white photograph with player name, team identification and card number on the front, and carries the Collins trademark shield and other information identifying the historic company on the reverse side. Featured is one of 200 top players of Baseball's Dead Ball Era when World War I was well underway in Europe and the powers-that-be had not yet put the rabbit in the ball. In our experience, this reprint is fairly difficult to find while offering collectors an affordable alternative to the originals which typically sell for more than $100.00 per card in top condition. The pictured card is the one the buyer will receive since we have just one example of this number.
