Description: A twenty five cents obsolete change note made by W. A. Hanford thru the Summit County Bank at Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio during the Civil War in 1862. Our estimation of grade on this quarter obsolete money is uncirculated, but cannot be verified. The vignette on this small sized civil war change note features a buck deer with large antlers. Hanford was most likely a merchant in the Cuyahoga Falls Ohio area during the Civil War. Silver and even copper coins were very scarce during the Civil War so businesses resorted to issuing paper change notes such as this example so they could keep on conducting their business. This note however is a remainder and never issued. You will receive the bill shown in the picture.
