1936 Harold June Cereal Card F277 Heinz FAMOUS AVIATORS 1ST Series Arctic Pilot

Description: This fantastic card is one in a series of cards issued by the H.J. Heinz Co. and was issued in 1936. One was inserted into each package of Heinz Breakfast Wheat and Rice Flakes cereal. The series is designated as series F227-4 in Burdick’s American Card Catalogue and is entitled “Famous Aviator Pictures” This series was issued from 1936-39. Only the 1936 series is considered the 1st Series and is indicated by the “32236” print number found on the back. After the 1936 year, 5 of the cards were pulled and replaced in the set in subsequent years. (those have different print numbers on the back indicating year of issue, and are considered the Second Series F277-4b in the A.C.C.). Finding these true first series cards are tough. Each card features a beautifully illustrated image of the featured Pilot., while the back features advertising (and a rare premium map offer) and a brief bio. of the Pilot. This card is #24 in the series and Features Harold June Here is some information I found about him on the internet:Harold Irving June (1895–1962) was a machinist, an aviator, a test pilot, and an explorer in Antarctica. He is best known for his 1928–1930 service in the first Antarctic expedition of Admiral Richard E. Byrd. Sitting in the co-pilot's seat with supplemental radio duties, he flew with Byrd, pilot Bernt Balchen, and photographer Ashley McKinley over the South Pole on November 29, 1929. The Card measures 3 inches by 1 7/8 inches approximately. The card has some very light corner wear, but is free from creases. I have scanned the front and back of the card fairly large so you can determine the condition for yourself. Finding these first series cards is tough. Don’t miss out.
