Description: Sometimes prices go down, but never until we have a fair amount of watchers, so please watch if interested but not ready to buy. NOTE- My camera has a very round lens which makes long straight lines seem to curve, especially on frames & furniture but it's just the camera, so just know the lines of this are straight. ___________________________________________________ ITEM- 1990s IGMA Fellow Betty Babb Dollhouse Miniature Painting A Williamsburg Kitchen DESCRIPTION- I have three 1990's Betty Babb oil paintings I'm listing (see last photo), but this is just for the first one shown- A Williamsburg Kitchen. I believe these are each one-of-a-kind, as the ones of hers that were series were all numbered. This is a wonderful painting by an IGMA Fellow, whose works rarely come up for sale. See the other two also. Measures about 2 & 1/2" tall X 2" wide. Betty Babb- Her full name is Elizabeth Hundley Babb & she was born in April of 1936. She is 88 now & I believe she lives in Williamsburg, Virginia. Betty spent 30 years as the floral designer of the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation. She is the illustrator of a number of books, such as Entertaining Ideas from Williamsburg & From a Colonial Garden, and her work has been published worldwide. Her paintings in miniature are held in the highest regard, especially floral ones because she really knows her botanicals, and paints with amazingly accurate details. She has done intensive research on floral growth timelines, and especially on the flora from the original Jamestown Colony of 1607, and her paintings reproduced it in a series of prints and cards in 2007, for the 400th anniversary of the founding of the Jamestown Colony. Betty studied for over 30 years under renowned artist Barclay Sheaks whose works are in numerous museums, universities, and corporate collections. He was an associate professor at Virginia Wesleyan College in Norfolk, and maintained studios on Chesapeake Bay and in Newport News, Virginia. Betty was, I'm told, chosen as a fellow in The International Guild of Miniature Artisans and a member in The Miniature Painters, Sculptors, & Gravers Society of Washington, D.C., where she participated in an annual exhibition each fall She is now retired. She once said- "I tend to be a detailed painter," and I do enjoy it." It shows. ABOUT US- Perhaps you found us from our cards at shows or our Facebook page htgtminis & if so, we hope you will choose to buy from us here also. We are Chris & Holly Wood of Scottsville, KY & we have sold dollhouse miniatures at shows in Philadelphia (Minituria), & San Jose (Good Sam), & in Chicago (Bishop etc..). We will be at Chicago in April. Our previous 22 years experience with antiques gives us a discerning eye to proper scale in miniatures. We hope you will choose to do business with us wherever you may FIND US. Write with ANY questions or reasonable offers & we will respond & try to help, but keep in mind we have to pay 15% fees selling here when considering the price. CONDITION- Vintage, previously owned, no damage, no issues. SHIPPING/INSURANCE- Free shipping is by USPS ground with us paying for full insurance, but if you want it perhaps a few days faster upgrade to Priority fully insured for just $5 more. Many DH sellers don't insure their items anymore or under-insure them, but not us. RETURNS & BUYER PROTECTION- These terms are legally binding. The eBay buyer protection program fully guarantees you will receive the item(s) you bought just as shown & described in this listing. We do not allow returns outside of the eBay buyer protection guarantee for any reason, because all that does is allow for buyers to return things for illegitimate reasons such as buyer's remorse or not reading the description, reasons that if we were somehow forced to do a return because of, would result in a 25% restocking fee. If we made a legitimate mistake that can be proven, then the eBay money back guarantee comes in. If there's damage, that's why we always fully insure any item (other than lesser items we have exact duplicates of). Most buyers are honest & not intending to cheat sellers, but this way you are protected and so are we. We often set up in Philly & Chicago & have sold a huge amount of estate miniatures in the past 7 years. We want to be a trusted source for artisan dollhouse items on eBay & we have never received anything but positive feedback from dollhouse items we've sold, with no complaints so far anywhere. However, one buyer neglected to note the size, thought they were buying a full size cupboard despite the DH category, description with size, & pictures with a dime beside them & one of my hand holding it, so just know what you're buying & know there will be no returns for not looking at pictures & reading the description. And if there is anything you're not sure about, write to ask BEFORE buying & we will send any additional pics or photos or measurements you need so there is no confusion. After you buy without writing, that is on you. We want to make every reasonable buyer happy so they come back again! Thanks for looking.
