Description: This lot is for FIVE Lakota copper rounds fresh from a mint tube. These are proof like shiny which is very hard to capture on camera. They are stunning in person! These were released by the Free Lakota Bank in 2010 as the "Currency of the Free and Independent Nation". Their popularity helped propel the "buffalo" design to a standard for bullion companies. The rounds were approved by the AOCS (American Open Currency Standard) organization for use in their trade and barter network. See images of a pamphlet about the AOCS which highlights the Lakota design. Please note: this pamphlet is NOT included in the auction. These copper rounds are uncertified and came directly from the bullion bank when first released. Listed price is for FIVE rounds. Forty are available in total. Add these to your collection today and own a piece of local community currency history!
