In today's good deal we have a nice bundle of the four seasons of HBO's epic series 'Spartacus', featuring the first: 'Blood and Sand', the prequel which came out next: 'Gods of the Arena', as well as 'Vengeance', and 'War of the Damned'. 'Spartacus' is based on the 1960 movie of the same name (that's directed by Stanley Kubrick), and was on the Starz network. The first season is called 'Spartacus: Blood and Sand', and stars Andy Whitfield as Spartacus, and also features Lucy Lawless, John Hannah, Manu Bennett, Jai Courtney, and Peter Mensah, among many others. Whitfield passed away from cancer in 2011, so a prequel was then made and aired, called 'Gods of the Arena'. They replaced Whitfield for season three titled 'Spartacus: Vengeance', (officially known as season two, as 'Gods of the Arena' isn't technically a Spartacus season. Just made by the same people). Liam McIntyre took over as Spartacus in 'Vengeance'. Honestly, BOTH actors did a fantastic job in the role! The last of the four series is called 'War of the Damned'. (With Liam McIntyre continuing his role as Spartacus.) Some of the discs in this bundle look new, and are still shiny and clean. Others have a few surface marks on them, but nothing too bad, or that will affect play. I have watched each one of these at some point during the past few years, and everything played fine. Some of the cases look great, while a few others have mild signs of wear. Three of the 'Spartacus' box sets have outer slipcovers that are clear plastic, and a couple are showing wear. They are all either Region 1 or region free DVDs. Since these are cable shows, there's plenty of scenes of intense violence, graphic nudity, and swearing. So, for mature teens and adults only.
