Description: READ! Original and rare antique 19th century (late 1800s) Lee & Wigfull Sheffield British Sterling Silver Stag Antler/Bone Handled Ornate 10.25" Serving Fork (from English Fish Carving Set), in good preowned vintage condition w/ normal signs of age. Measures approx. 10.25" long. Weighs 5.7 oz. -- uncertain what the sterling weight (minus antler handle) comes to exactly but it's likely more than 4 oz. & the current melt value of 4 oz. of sterling silver exceeds $100. Hallmarks appear to be a crown (Sheffield) w/ lion (sterling) & the letter Y (not sure of assayed date). I found an almost identical knife & fork set online w/ the exact patterning at base & top of handle (identifying L&W mark appears on knife blade from the set so I reason this is also by Lee & Wigfull); this similar set marked 'U' instead of 'Y' so if that's 1887 then maybe this fork is 1891? This fork here in this listing has another mark (see second photo; looks like 'JAM'?) prob relates to L&W. Please do your own research and/or educate me & send a message so I can update the listing! Some general age wear like small crack/wear at antler ends & silver handle tip wear (see last two photos) but overall in good condition; it displays well. Flatware, silverware, collectible interest. Selling as-is; see pics and use zoom feature for more details. Ships w/ proper reinforcement & insurance for safe travels. Please ask any questions before buying. No returns. Thank you!
