Description: Penn Antique Restoration Antique Solid Oak Library or Office Arm Chair w/Swivel & Rocking Seat Robust, solid wood, arm chair made by, "H Krug," in Kitchner Ontario (Canada) sometime during the first half of the previous century. The chair and base are made of solid oak and the bar connecting them, as well as the spring mechanism, are all steel. We got this chair from the owner of a local beer distributor. He sold his business and we bought some of his office furniture, including this chair. He was a big guy and said that this chair fit him like a glove. The arms, feet, back rest and spindles within are all curved. The seat has a saddle shape for extra comfort. However, the most enjoyable part of this chair is it's rocking, swivel feature. The rocking feature could be disabled by turning the knob in front of the spring and the height of the chair could be adjusted by loosening the screw at the base and rotating the seat.Originally, the 4 feet had wooden wheels. The former owner removed them but we could add some from our collection. Message us if you want them. Our carpenter inspected the chair from top to bottom, and didn't need to make any repairs or reinforce anything as the chair is strong and sturdy. He said that it was built to last forever.Cosmetically, the chair is distressed with plenty of nicks, scratches, worn finish, and patina. This chair was used daily for decades and looks like it was. If you prefer a cleaner, newer look, the chair will need to be refinished or sanded and painted. The steel components will need some scrubbing with steel wool to get rid of the light, surface rust. There are no breaks, cracks, dents, gouges, rot, or warp. This chair is ready for another lifetime of service. DimensionsSeat: 20 1/2" x 19" Arm to Arm: 23 1/2"H Height: (adjustable, but in the photos) (Floor to Seat) 16" (Floor to Armrest) 26 1/2" (Floor to Top of backrest) 32 1/2" (Backrest) 15 1/2"H Shipping * Please note that we plan to ship the chair with the base removed. Not only will this lower our cost to ship, it will also ensure the safety of the chair during transit. To reattach, simply place the steel bar sticking out from the bottom of the seat to the round steel plate on top of the base and rotate it until you got it to your desired height. Tighten the screw to keep the height fixed.
