August Mosca later finished his studies at the Pratt Institute, New York and at the Art Students' League, under Harry Wickey.August Mosca settled in Greenwich Village in 1928 and supported himself by working at any number of available jobs (including shoe shining) and by drawing portraits. In 1937, August Mosca met the great American artist, Joseph Stella. They immediately became the best of friends and Stella invited the younger artist to share his studio. The two artists painted side by side until Stella's death in 1946. August Mosca moved both his home and studio to Shelter Island, New York in 1947.During his career August Mosca taught at the Cooper Union, the Pratt Institute and at the Art Students' League of New York. His art also received awards from such institutions of the Audubon Artists, the Society of American Graphic Artists and the Society of Painters and Sculptors. His prints and paintings are now included in the collections of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Butler Institute, the Library of Congress, the Brooklyn Museum, the United States State Department, the New York Public Library and the Shelter Island Historical Society. This impression of Young Dreamer originates from the collection of the Associated American Artists of New York. The A.A.A. was created in the mid 1930's and commissioned original graphic art from such great American asters as Grant Wood, Thomas Hart Benton, Reginald Marsh and many others. In the 1960's its artists included Jack Levine, Sidney Chafetz and Herbert Lewis Fink. In all probability, therefore, Young Dreamer was published by the Associated American Artists.
