Description: This Bell System phone was made by Western Electric; the handset says it's an "F1." The code on the bottom metal plate phone indicates it's from 7/57, July 1957, though it looks earlier than that...maybe the 1940s? The picture shown below is from Wikipedia, which IDs this as a Model 302 phone, made from 1937 until 1955 (when it was replaced with a more rounded look to the desktop phone). It has some scratches, shown in the pictures (please enlarge), and the plug is slightly discolored but intact. It's very cool looking and a great conversation piece to display in your home or office, even if you don't use it! MEASUREMENTS:the base is 5-1/4" wide (without the handset on top), 7-1/2" long, and 5" tall without the handset, 5-1/2" with the handset on top.the handset is 8-7/8" long and about 3" tall; the ear piece is 2-5/8" across, and the mouthpiece is 2-3/4" across.the cord connecting the handset to the base is about 19" long (without yanking on the coils).the back cord connecting the base to the plug is 62" long, plus another 1-1/4" for the off-white plug.and it weighs about 4-3/4 pounds.I believe it is not bakelite; Wikipedia says this model was made from "thermoplastic." email me any questions.
