There are countless ways for leaks to be introduced and you definitely want to make sure you have a sealed charge pipe system. A leak will cause a loss of power and throws the tuning off. The fuel injected now isn't being used due to the loss of air so the motor will run rich and the computer will constantly be adjusting to keep up with the changing amount of air.If you have just installed a new supercharger system on your motor its a good idea to ensure the system is boost leak free to know what the real power output of the system! This is an important tool that every turbo car owner needs in their arsenal of tools!Common Leak points:any clamped connection at the turbo outlet, charge pipe clamped connectionsintake manifold connectionsbov / pressure release valveinjector o-ring seals, gasket surfaces*any time the charge pipe system is serviced Fitment & Compatibility:Vortech V3 Si Supercharger3.5" supercharger inlet (measures 3.5" outer diameter) Design Features: 1. Custom Stainless Steel liquid filled 30 PSI Boost Gauge · 30 PSI range will give you the appropriate reading when testing your charge pipes for low, medium or high boost levels.* 4. Fitting – Universal Tire Schrader Valve 5. (2) Stainless Steel T-Bolt Clamps with Teflon lock-nut How do I know if I have a Boost Leak?? Typically the boost target will be lower than what is expected by the tune Laggy performance Smell of fuel fuel in exhaust Simple Steps to Use the Boost Leak Tester:With engine off, remove intake off supercharger inletRemove oil cap to vent any excess crankcase pressure from the boost leak test.Install boost leak tester and clamp downRegulate compressor and pressurize with 5 PSI to start. Boost gauge will show the actual pressure in the system.Listen for leaks. Use soapy spray water to identify small leaks that are not audible.Retest to 10 PSI and move up in every 5 increments up to 20 PSITip: When stopping or removing the air source, watch the boost gauge on the tester to see how fast or slow it bleeds. A good system will hold pressure and leak at a rate of 1 PSI/second. That is normal since some air will pass into the cylinder and past the piston rings and into the crankcase.
