Description: A set of beautiful BLANK Brass or Bronze Tarnished Gold Door Pushes that were saved from / made for the Smith Woodwork Company of Philadelphia Pa which was Established (Est) in 1877. The company was previously known / listed as the George W. Smith & Co.'s Artistic Furniture Factory in an 1892 edition of Hexamer General Surveys, Volume 26. I included qty 2 images taken from historical Atlases for historic context. These Push plates were likely made/manufactured by the Norwalk Lock company of Connecticut circa 1900-1930. Just the Brass/Bronze alone in these 2 pieces / pair weighs in at 3 Pounds 13 ounces on my scale. ****Please note NO historical atlas pages are included within this listing provided for context only.**** The 1892 address of the factory was given as State St, Powelton Ave, and Sloan St. The current site today is occupied by a surface parking lot at 3907 Powelton Ave, Philadelphia, PA 19104 which is directly across the street from Penn Medicine on 3910 Powelton Ave, Philadelphia, PA 19104. In 1942 Land Use Maps the site of the factory appears to have been cleared to be redeveloped as a commercial / industrial zone with surface parking so this corroborates that these push plates were likely manufactured circa 1900-1930. The land use maps/photos are from 2024, 1962, 1942, 1910, 1895, and 1892 Please let me know if you have any questions in regards to this phenomenal piece of Philadelphia History.
