It is a beautiful solid piece and no loose spindles/parts. The glued areas for the spindles where they are placed on base do appear with age wear around the edging. There are some slight normal nicks/paint loss. The color appears to be like a black/brown cherry wood color. The photos show various color contrasts due to the various lighting angles. The display caroler accessory may have some normal wear, tear, paint loss/nicks, scuffs and marks, due to holiday display use, age and storage. Sharing all details regardless.
