Description: c 1890 Hammersley "Dresden Sprays" fluted trio pattern #9129/12668. Gorgeous hand painted floral design on white background with gilded edges, produced at the Alsager Pottery, Longton, Stoke on Trent, Staffordshire. The colours and gilding remain bright and clear. Dimensions:Cup 5.3 cm tall and 10 cm from outer edge of the cup to outer edge of the handle.Saucer 14.5 cm diameter.Side plate 15 cm diameter. In very good original antique condition with no chips, cracks, repairs or restoration that I can identify. There are a couple of discolouration marks in the base of the cup. There are small random kiln flecks, spatter marks and glaze faults (of note mainly to the saucer base rim) from the hand stacking & firing process, and painting smudges, very typical of the manual processes and technology of the time. The reverse of the side plate bears the Hammersley England Dresden Sprays back stamp.The reverse of the cup and saucer bear the registration # 150153, the saucer also has an impressed mark.All 3 pieces bear the hand written pattern numbers 9129 or 12668, and painter's mark.
