I don't sell antenna wire kits, offered him the correct wire type & gauge so he could help the hobby, yet he still continues to sell the wrong wire and correct gauge. I guess it's all about the money. For those that have bought the wrong wire from him...demand your $$$ back or have a screwed-up antenna. I contacted this seller yrs ago nicely explaining this and...I guess it's all about money as he continues to sell a wire kit THAT I GUARANTEE WILL KILL YOUR ANTENNA'S PERFORMANCE !These small but robust antenna's kick-but when dimensions and the proper 16-ga copper weld (copper-coated) solid steel core wire is used. The design used steel-core wire to withstand severe icing, wind and the stretching issues common to solid copper wire. Use anything but solid 16-wire and you'll throw the entire antenna's design, radiation pattern and forward gain in the trash. Using heaver gauge wire will also destroy the performance as these antenna's were computer optimized by the inventor - Louis Martino using a program restricted to NASA & Military use back in the day. This program squeaked every bit of performance possible from these small 2-element quads and the design dimensions are critical and must be adhered for the antenna to perform. Even changing the wire from 16-ga to 14-ga will kill the performance as the computer models show. Changing to a stranded type of any gauge is guaranteed to screw everything as now the element wire has an impedance so far from the design, you'll be wasting a lot of power in the gamma match trying to lower the swr. Polarized Diversity Loop (PDL for short) utilizes a complex rf power-path to achieve it's extra gain over tradition quads. Understanding the design is key to making the PDL-II perform This 16-page manual will educate you on the proper set-up and whatever you do don't buy into all the snake-oil. There's a guy selling stranded wire to restring PDL antenna's. Use anything but the proper 16-gauge solid wire and you will have screwed the lobe pattern and performance will suck because the computer optimized design has now been altered. Everything needs to be exact on the PDL-II or the performance will suffer. Is Your PDL Behaving More Like An Omni Than A Beam? The lobe-pattern is everything on a two-element beam. A clean lobe-pattern translates to strong forward-gain with good side and rear-rejection as shown in the computer-plots. There's a lot more than just a good match needed to maximize a PDL's punch.
