Coated Thorley Tri-Y Headers THY-388Y-S Chevy BBC 454SS Truck SUV

Description: Up for sale here is a very nice set of hard-to-find Doug Thorley Tri-Y headers for 88-93 Chevy and GM big block pick-ups and SUVs ( C1500 C2500 C3500). The part number is 388Y-S, and is the even harder-to-find headers for smog applications, as the headers have the AIR Injection tube fittings. These headers are for 396 427 454 installs in GM pickups and SUVs from 1988 up. These headers will fit the Gen IV, Gen V, and Gen VI big blocks, but not the Vortec 8.1L motor. This set up is complete with freshly Cerakoted left and right headers, the cross-over pipe for a single cat (used with some road rash on the bottom, but otherwise clean and crack-free), a nice set of used left and right GP Sorenson smog tubes, a pair of new Thorley header gaskets, new collector donut gaskets, collector bolts, 14 used 12-point header bolts (you'll need to round up a couple of exra bolts), and the install instructions. When I had these headers on my 454SS, the pass side header needed "clearancing" near the collector to remove frame-rail interference as it passes by the frame rail (see pics). I also removed the heat-stove tube that jutted off the front of the pass side header, so you'll need to get a clamp-on heat stove from Mr Gasket if you need to have a heat stove pipe to the air cleaner to pass smog (I did unfortunately). After I took these headers off, I had the pass side collector tig-welded to fix a couple of small cracks, and both headers leak-checked, and then had both headers professionally coated on the outside with Cerakote Glacier Silver high heat coating. The inside of the tubes were not coated, but are clean now due to the cleaning process prior to coating. I did not have the cross-over pipe coated as I thought the new owner might need to modify it to fit whatever exhaust system they planned to use. The headers have not been installed since they were coated, so they look like new.
