The MIP also supports downloadable binary files (firmware) and increased memory capacity for these upgrades and firmware based I/NET 7700 equipment. Features • Supports all I/NET 7700 operating features. • Provides increased processor performance. • Supports 96K of onboard RAM for additional trending and database capacity. • Allows firmware resident operating programs to be downloaded to the controller/TAP without the need for a technician to visit the job site. This is supported via a direct connect LAN communications path or remotely accessed phone lines. • Battery backed power for RAM in excess of 30 days. • Allows support of full 8 phone/pager numbers, with 31 characters each, in auto-dial TAPs. Design The MIP module is a simple plug-in module designed to plug into the existing onboard CPU socket in both CSI controllers and CSI TAPs. The MIP module contains a new microprocessor, expanded RAM memory, onboard battery power and the necessary hardware and firmware required to support downloadable “firmware” to the devices.
