Description: This Dano Longhorn bass was made in the 2000’s. It is a 30” scale which is a short scale bass and comes with a Danelectro tweed case! This bass offers a much looser feel for players as less strain is exerted on the strings making them easier to fret and even bend. This, combined with the frets being much closer together, means that short scale basses feel considerably easier to play than their full-length counterparts. And this Dano has 24 frets! Who bassist John Entwhistle used a Dano (check out the bass solo on “My Generation”). The Beatles, McCartney is still often seen playing his distinctive 30” bass in his performances for over 50 years. A shorter scale yields a much deeper and fatter tone. This Dano has the rare adjustable individual bridges! Most just have a fixed position piece of wood. Two pick-ups: Lipstick single coil offering one-of-a-kind tone that has captured the imagination of so many bassists over the decades. With their coils wrapped around an alnico magnet and then wrapped in tape, these passive pickups harken back to the vintage tone of rock’s earliest days. The result is a round and punchy sound that truly stands alone. Volume knob, tone knob and 3 way toggle. Black gloss polyester finish. Weight: 6lbs. 2oz. on my scale. I have added a Danelectro tweed case (the case alone cost me $295.00 but is truly a sharp addition) which most Dano basses out there don’t offer. These longhorns with the adjustable bridge and tweed case are almost impossible to find. This is a great bass to play on stage. People always want to know about the legendary Danoelectro Bass! This lightweight bass has cool retro looks and an old school rock and roll sound ! Graham Nash plays a Danelectro Longhorn on "Just One Look" with The Hollies on Shindig! in 1965. Tom Petty on the Wildflowers album with the Traveling Wilburys played a Longhorn bass. Joey Spampinato NRBQ played single cut, dbl cut, and Longhorn basses throughout his career.
