Description: COOL VINTAGE ITEM!! WON'T LAST LONG!!This Florida Bureau of Geology Bulletin #38, Stratigraphy and Zonation of the Ocala Group. Published in 1957, this scarce 248 page book details the widespread Ocala group which comprises several individual formations. This group of rocks is known nearly statewide from wells and drill holes all over the state. This report contains four maps and many plates of phots of various micro-fossils used in correlating the various horizons from one location to another. In addition there are drawings and several photos of various key locations around the state, not to mention tons of text covering the geology, and descriptions of all the fossils that are depicted in the plates. The maps correlate the various strata throughout the state and show how complex and interbedded parts of the formation are. They are pretty masterful portrayals of the geology, the kind of high quality geology work you don't see that often. This is a scarce item I have never sold before, never even seen before, in fact, and would make great reading for anyone. It is very thought provoking. Where else will you ever see one of these for sale? I assume these were useful during oil exploration in Florida, which was a big deal for a while. This would be of great interest to anyone with geologic interest in Florida, and a good gift to a science-minded relative who lives there. Expert packing assured. The recent increase in postage rates was pretty big. As a result, Media Mail is now my default shipping method to keep shipping affordable. Visit my store, Rockwiler Books and Minerals.
