It is beautifully hand chased all over. The case was hand chased in India. Made completely by hand without the use of any machines. After etching the case was shipped to Fred Zimbalist in Cleveland, Ohio where he fitted each case with a Swiss Thorens movement. Each and every box is unique and no two were exactly the same. The piece is marked 084 and 088 on the hinges. A treasure for many years. Perfect as Christmas present. Regarding the Thorens AD30 mechanism, this is an older mechanism where the gears are made of brass instead of plastic that could crack and break.
