Description: [Boston: Houghton Mifflin, 1896]. Thomas Bailey Aldrich. Printed at the Riverside Press. 1896. Narrow octavo. Full publisher's medium brown calf leather, stamped pictorially in darker brown, ribbon ties. Printed in black and red. A nice copy with shallow loss around the crown of the spine. Featuring illustrations and decorations by W.D. Hadaway. This work has been tentatively recognized as one of the first books designed by Bruce Rogers after his arrival at the Riverside Press. The work shows a large debt to William Morris and his Kelmscott Press, but is still a lovely example of American Arts & Crafts fine press work. Included in: "One Hundred Years of American Fine Printing," Georgetown University.
