Description: GIANT Vintage RUSSIAN USSR KHOKHLOMA LACQUER HAND PAINTED VASE Folk ArtHand painted with burnished gold gilding on leaves, borders, and on the inside of the vase. Fabulous and fanciful design of bunches of red strawberries and red berries with smaller yellow berries. There are extravagant swirling and twining green vines and leaves. Round base is 5 1/8". Circumference around largest centerpoint is 23"This piece is very unusual- it's the largest Khokhloma vase I've seen Jewel Toned Richly Colored On Black Background /Each tiny brushstroke completely hand applied.Excellent condition- no nicks chips cracks or repair, pristine. No fading or wear to lacquer or paint, which is richly colored. Hand painted designs in the traditional Russian style. I believe this vase is carved from balsawood, which would also be traditional.
