Description: William Golding of Boston set up shop as a printer’s supply house in 1869 and soon graduated to the manufacture of seals, then small amateur presses, and finally full-sized jobbing presses. The Pearl remains today one of the most popular presses for amateur letterpress printing. It was made in Oldstyle and Improved versions; pictured is the latter model, made in 1899, which features an impression throw-off lever that the Oldstyle lacks. The Pearl can be broken down into pieces for ease of movement. The Pearl also has the advantage of a treadle and the flywheel energy which helps with impression and printing speed. With the Improved Pearl, such as this No. 11, you also add another toller and throw off lever. There is no question why Pearl presses are some of the most sought after presses in America. This model which was less than 200 made and probably less than 50 extant.ready to print with three new rollers or ready for the living room where I have hade it for 20 years....rarest of the rare important part of American printing history.Yes it's a little pricy if it's too much buy the other one... 1899 old style with throwout lever and brake lever !!!
