This is very large for a portable or for even a desktop receiver. Takes up a lot of space but what a fun radio this is to listen to the world. The specs of these Satellit 800s are fantastic. The tuner receives AM, SW, FM and VHF Air bands. Receiver has a huge whip antenna that grabs the stations very well. It also has multiple antenna jacks for the different antenna configurations that are available. Tuning is through the keypad and a manual tuning knob. For these Satellit 800s it's impossible to detect any muting while turning that knob when searching for stations. If you are new to the world of listening to shortwave or HAM traffic, this is a fantastic receiver to get. The receiver has a ton of options and features to support your hobby as you advance in your listening skills. Radio has been tested for receive functionality with batteries and AC power supply. Backlight for S- Meter and digital display works. Telescoping antenna extends and retracts. Battery compartment is nice. This receiver is in good condition.
