Description: Herman Chapin Union Factory #238-1/2 three arm Beachwood Plow Plane, Patent date of Mar 31st 1868. Patent date and makers mark stamp in the wood. This a very rare and hard to fine tool, especially in this condition. There is no missing pieces and the metal is in perfect condition, with no chips whatsoever. The threaded rod has some very, very small chipping on the treads. The chisel has the marking of Greenfield tool Co. of Greenfield Mass engraved on it. A beautiful piece of craftsmanship.
