Description: Presented is a great pair of Georgian sterling silver sugar tongs. This piece has a handsome ribbed boarder around the exterior and pointed ends. The tongs are marked with English hallmarks: the lion passant for sterling silver, the duty mark of King George III, the maker's mark GB, and a date letter, E. Due to the maker's mark and the date letter, we believe this piece to be made in the year 1800 by a London maker, likely George Burrows or George Braiser. This piece is in great condition, especially considering age and material. There are no monograms, no monogram removals, no breaks, and no repairs. The tongs measure about 5 1/4 inches long and opens about 1 inch wide.Weight: 32 grams or 1.1 ounces -kc Powered by SixBit's eCommerce Solution
