From 1942 to 1954, Sister Jacques-Marie, initially Monique Bourgeois, recounted her meeting with Henri Matisse, which gave rise to the creation of the Rosary Chapel in Vence. The artist's last and final project, it corresponds to the culmination of his work. Henri Matisse declared: "this work took me four years of exclusive and assiduous work, and it is the result of my entire active life. I consider it, despite all its imperfections, to be my masterpiece." Sister Jacques-Marie recounts the friendship and complicity with the painter over the years, from which emerged the masterpiece that is the Rosary Chapel in Vence. Reproductions of Matisse's drawings, unpublished archive photographs, accompanied by extracts from the painter's correspondence, as well as a preface by the director of the Chteau de Villeneuve (Zia Mirabdolbaghi), and the former curator of the Matisse Museum in Cateau-Cambrsis (Dominique Szymusiak) complete the text.
