The mirror lenses are made of slightly convex glass which provides a greater range of vision. The mirror housings are made of chrome plated ABS plastic and the mirror stems are made of chrome plated steel. The head on each of these measures a whopping 6-1/4 inches wide by 4-1/4 inches tall. The large design eases the strain of safely making lane changes, turns, and simply backing up in parking lots. The threads on the ends of the mounting stems are 10mm. It takes the average person about 5-10 minutes to install a pair of these on their bike. *LEFT SIDE / RIGHT SIDE CONFIGURATION* Installing these is not a technical challenge. However, if you have not changed many EMGO motorcycle mirrors this is something that you may not know. When the manufacturer attaches the stems onto the mirror heads they do not tighten the stem's jamb nuts because they know you will need to have them loose for the initial adjustment. When the stems are loose they can get turned up or down very easily. When that happens, it can make it appear that you have received 2 left mirrors or 2 right mirrors, but actually it just means one of the mirror stems have been rotated. To change the left to right or right to left all you have to do is rotate the stem out 180°. The other day while looking for something else on the web, I happened across “The Big One” chrome cruiser mirror manufactured by EMGO and sold by Harber’s Cycle Parts, an online store in which I have absolutely no financial interest. I sent Mr. Harber an email as to whether those mirrors would fit my bike and received an immediate response, placed my order and received them three days later. I removed the OEM mirrors and put the new ones on my bike immediately and took it for a spin on the interstate. A little very minor tweaking with a 17mm wrench and I found that the blind spots had totally disappeared! If a vehicle was in the passing lane I could see it a half mile back and it was still in the mirror when it was even with me – no squinting or distance-related mental interpolation.
