Description: Staplebound. Octavo, unpaginated (about 100pp.), illustrated. Date is approximate; there is one song with a 1952 copyright date, and Coe died in 1956. In good condition in the publisher's side-stapled wraps, with rubbing, craasing, and chipping to wraps, a few tiny internal ink markings, but generally sound. Scarce hymnal published by one of America's first and most influential tent revival faith healers. Coe, a rehabilitated alcoholic, was a firm proponent of faith healing, and he instructed his followers to eschew all medical care. In 1953, the Assemblies of God expelled him from the church for, among other things, "misleading the public" and "antagonizing Dallas Civil Authorities." Coe died three years later (at Dallas Parkland Hospital) of polio. This hymnal, rather crudely and cheaply produced, nevertheless contains some wonderful images of church buildings, as well as tent revivals in Los Angeles and Little Rock, Arkansas. On the rear wrap is a panoramic photo whose caption reads, "Largest Gospel Tent in the world filled to capacity Oklahoma city [sic]."
