Description: Lancaster & Sandland English Ware Mustard Jar & Lid The Jolly Boatman For consideration is this vintage porcelain mustard jar and slotted lid made by Lancaster & Sandland in England. This is called The Jolly Boatman. Two sides of the jar feature an English countryside scene with a bridge over a river and people in a boat. The jar has an off-white background and the jar, lid rim and lid knob are edged in gold. The jar measures 4 inches tall with the lid in place, the mouth measures 2¾ inches in diameter and the jar base is stamped in green ink “English Ware” followed “Lancaster” a crown logo and “Sandland Ltd. Hanley England”. The set is in very good vintage condition with no nicks, chips, cracks, repairs, scratches, or crazing noted. The jar has some staining around the rim as does the underside of the lid (see photos). There is gold loss on the lid rim and there is no spoon. Buyer will pay shipping on a 1 pound box. The company went into voluntary liquidation in November 1968.
