Description: 2024 elk bull cape. This is a cape from a large bull that is in good condition and well furred. No knicks, holes or visible scars. Caping was performed with a Havalon Piranta caping knife and the cuts were made up the top centerline of the neck to 4" behind the pedicles, where the cut 'Y's to each antler base. Mid cut was well behind the brisket and on the back edge of each leg. All cuts were made from the skin side out, not the hair side in. Pedicles were carefully followed to the antler burr and 100% of the hide and hair is on the cape, none was left around the antler base. Preorbital gland divots are intact as are eyelids, nose and lips. Ear canal was cut flush with skull. Cape was packed in ice until I travelled home (1 day), then pictures were taken and it was folded, bagged and frozen. I have caped plenty of big game animals for myself and others and skinned and put up hundreds of furbearers, so rest assured it was caped and handled well. Caping was performed in the field, so it will need fleshed and/or cleaned and prepped for salt/tanning solution. The cape will be packed in a sealed, insulated box and shipped via FedEx 2nd day. I have shipped similar capes from coast to coast with good results.
