Description: Swiss "ORCHESTRA" Music Box "Christmas is coming - a great gift item!" We are offering a special Swiss music box, made in Sainte Croix, and attributed to Paillard around 1895. This music box was specially made for the U.S. market, as the original tune sheet bears the name of the importer, Henry Gautschi & Sons of Philadelphia Pennsylvania. This music box plays 10 tunes, as noted on the original tune card. The 16" cylinder is driven by a large double-spring motor, with accompanying drum, bells, castanet and a 22-note organ. The organ is in perfect condition, with reconditioned bellows, and plays loudly, as it should. The bells, drum and castanets each have their own individual on-off switches. Most people prefer to silence the drum and castanets, and listen to the bells and organ. Also fitted is a tune indicator and a tune selector, as well as a governor speed controller. Measurements are 32" wide x 18" deep x 14" high (when closed). Bronze lifting handles add to the elegance. The case shows very nicely, with very minor veneer lifting around the ends, hardly noticeable.
