Silverplate EPNS Birmingham OPEN SALT CELLAR Click images to enlarge Description ANTIQUE SILVERPLATE OPEN SALT Striking and lovely antique heavy silverplate oval salt bowl measuring 2-3/4" long and 2-1/8" wide - it is about 1-1/2" in height. Featuring a colonial design, with bulbous shape, short foot and defined edge, it is stamped FRIEND & CO., BIRMINGHAM EPNS on the underside - I was unable to find any manufacturer of plated nickle items that matched this company name, but am guessing it dates to the early 1900s - there is the faintest stamp on the side which is all but illegible. Condition is lovely with extremely minor usage and age related wear. A lovely open salt cellar - wonderful addition to any table, home, display or collection!
