My friends at AfterPlanetStudios (APS) are fans of the of old Marvel 80's & 90's pins you use to see at comic book stores. Planet Studios catalogue showed that 393 pins were intended to be made for the main cloisonné collection. But some never came to market. The APS project’s goal is to complete the catalogue. Planet Studios (PS) Apocalypse pin #387 was designed in 1995, but was never approved by Marvel and therefore never produced. So APS decided to find artwork of Apocalypse drawn in 1995 that fit the artistic parameters of a Planet Studio swipe. After much deliberation APS selected the art and developed this pin in the style of a vintage Planet Studios pin. The Apocalypse pin is a 1.5 x 1.0 inch TRUE CLOISONNE PIN. It took a tremendous effort to find a manufacturer that still made true closionne pins in the same fashion as the original Planet Studios pins. The result is a stunning glass enamel pin that has the same luster found on most Planet Studios pins. The pin has a double post backing, the back of the pin is waffle design with a custom serial number back stamp and is plated in black nickel. The boarder edges are straight edges. This comes with a 2' x 3' 16pt satin finish card backer. Attached are pictures of the pin with other PS Age of Apocalypse & New Warriors pins made around the same time.
