Description: VTG McCoy Pottery Brown Drip Glaze Bean Pot with Handles #341 (REPAIRED, Pls READ) Gorgeous McCoy Pottery brown drip glaze bean pot with handles and lid. This is a wonderful example of the outstanding glazework that McCoy is known for. This bean pot (pattern #341) is fired in high gloss brown-to-cream drip glazes, and features rounded handles. Measurements: Height (with lid) 6”, Width (handle to handle) 6”, Diameter 5” Condition: This piece has been previously repaired. The repair is difficult to see, but there’s a very thin hairline on the underside that also goes partially up the sides. It looks like it’s only glaze-deep, however it’s also visible from the inside – which indicates a repair (not merely a surface flaw). I’ve priced the pot accordingly, however please check the photos carefully before making your purchase. About McCoy Pottery: In 1910, Nelson McCoy and his father, J. W. McCoy, started "The Nelson McCoy Sanitary Stoneware Company" (located in Roseville, Ohio). They began to manufacture and sell functional and decorative stoneware. They also mined, bought and sold clay. By 1925, the McCoy family began to expand the company. This allowed them to introduce specialty art pottery products to more affluent customers. The growing staff included designers and artisans, and began a new era for the company as well as the industry. Many changes went on in 20’s and 30's - including a change in the company name to better suit the times. "The Nelson McCoy Pottery Company" ushered in new techniques, designs and products that predominated throughout the 1940's. McCoy products changed as head designers changed. In the mid-30's, Sydney Cope joined the company, and by 1936 was the lead designer. Cope shaped the future of the art pottery style for which McCoy Pottery is best known. McCoy continued to produce both functional and decorative art pottery. From the mid 40's and into the 60's the company produced a line of cookie jars, still highly prized by collectors. Although McCoy Pottery ceased operation in 1990, it lives on through the many collectors and individuals who deeply appreciate the art form known as "Art Pottery."
