Description: Seller's Note : number 444 in a series of 700. This is a very fine copy which I have discounted generously because there is a stamp on the inside of the book, which is visible in the photographs, otherwise a very fine copy of this limited edition . Title: MICROGRAPHIA (Some Physiological Descriptions of Minute Bodies Made by Magnifying Glasses, with Observations and Enquiries Thereupon) Author: Robert Hooke. London: Introduced by Ruth Scurr, and with a Brief Life by John Aubrey. Publisher: The Folio Society, London 2017. Limited Edition: No 444 of 700 Illustrations: Introduced 38 plates including 5 fold-outs. Binding: Fine binding in slipcase. Quarter bound in leather with cloth sides blocked in silver, stamped with a unique design by Neil Gower. Pages finished in a silver top edge. Condition: A very handsome copy of Hooke's seminal text. The book and bookcase are in very good condition. The book pages are clean, bright and unmarked. Boards are good. The structure of the slipcase is intact, there are no scratches and upon a further inspection the slipcase is pretty much unmarked. This really is a very fine copy, numbered 444 in a series of 700. NB There is one slight blemish which is a curious confidential stamp, on the inside, as displayed in the pictures. in my opinion this should not detract from a very fine copy but I have made a generous adjustment to the price.
