Description: Mid-Century Chinese Export, Tea Caddy Jar, Peoples Republic Period, Famille Rose A beautiful signed Lidded Jar, Tea Caddy or possibly Ginger Jar, which has a stunning unusual shape. The slender jar is nicely scalloped and fluted, as is the lid. It is beautifully decorated in the exquisite chinoiserie style of vibrant pink and purple Peonies, a landscape full of greenery, bamboo, and birds galore. The front has two colorful Phoenix birds or Birds of Paradise, and the rear has several brown birds. A wonderful flora fauna depiction. The bottom border is a beautiful blue, teal green, and lavender geometrically designed patterns. This is a heavyweight porcelain jar which was made as it still retains the original sticker which states "Made in the People's Republic of China". I am unfortunately unable to translate the red backstamp. The People's Republic of China Period began in 1949, so this is post 1949. Size: 10.75" High 7" Wide and 4.75" Thick or Deep. Condition: Excellent, just some minor discolorations on the inners which are not glazed, around the lid and opening of the jar and underside base. The red trim around the lid has some minor loss.
