ITEM DESCRIPTION: Here is an Absolutely Beautiful & Very Scarce OOP (Out-of-Print) 1989 Color Halftone Museum Poster Print with the printed title, “Museum of Fine Arts, Boston”, which features the original 1891 oil painting titled, “Grainstack at Sunset”, by the famous listed painter, ‘Oscar-Claude Monet’ (French, 1840-1926), whose printed signature & date, ‘Claude Monet `91’ appears printed lower-left in the image corner. About the Original Painting: “In 1890 and 1891, Monet painted a group of pictures of the stacks of wheat (referred to as grainstacks or haystacks) in the fields near his home, exhibiting them as a series to great critical acclaim in 1891. Traditionally, the motifs in Monet’s series paintings have been seen merely as vehicles through which he could explore the interaction of light, color, and form over the course of the day and in different weather conditions. But scholars have recently proposed that Monet was equally interested in the meaning and significance of the motifs themselves. Design by Mimi Ahn.’, appears printed very tiny lower-right in the outer margin area (near edge) and the artist name, nationality, painting title, date, medium, size and collection info, ‘Oscar Claude Monet, French; Grainstack at Sunset, 1891; Oil on canvas, 28-7/8 x 36-1/2 inches; Juliana Cheney Edwards Collection’, appears printed lower-left respectively. The graphic designer for the poster, Mimi Ahn (real name Kyung MI Ahn, Korean-American, 1965- ), is the Creative Director of Mimi Ahn Designs, Inc. (MAD) out of Glendale, CA, who worked for the Museum of Fine Arts for four years from 1988-1992 where she worked with product development, catalog design and photo shoot direction. She studied at Occidental College (OXY) in Los Angeles, CA from 1983-1987 where she received her BA in Art and also at the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, CA from 1985-87. In addition to owning her own design companies, her impressive resume includes marketing designs, illustrations, print ads and packaging for large companies like, NBC Universal Media, LLC, The Walt Disney Company, Foote, Cone & Belding, Levi Strauss, Dockers, Slates and The Nature Company to name a few. The Poster is printed on a nice smooth semi-gloss medium-weight off-white coated wove paper stock. Size & Condition: The size of the Poster is 23-5/8” x 25”, Image size without bottom margin area is 19-3/4” x 25”. The Poster is in Excellent Rare+ condition for its age with absolutely no color fade! The Poster has been in a drawer amongst other prints & lithos since it was purchased by the Meibohm family and hasn’t seen the light of day in all this time. It’s as beautiful as the day it was printed and is as ‘Mint’ as any collector could hope to find in its original never-framed condition. No Tears & No Foxing! Extremely minimal (maybe a dozen or so) very slight & tiny crescent-creases scattered here & there in the image area which aren’t even noticeable except from behind and aren’t worth mentioning at all. Other extremely minimal (only a couple) very slight & tiny crescent-creases scattered here & there in the outer bottom margin area—also not really that noticeable or worth mentioning either. No noticeable toning of the paper stock from age. This scarce museum poster would make a wonderful addition to any Monet or art collection and has never been framed which is always more desirable to collectors since it has never been exposed to older non-archival materials, matburn or lightfade.
