Description: Offered for sale is a large and beautiful clear glass CAKE STAND made by Adams Glass of Pittsburgh, PA. It's in the PALACE pattern; the original name for the popular MOON & STAR design. With clear Palace pattern glass there's often some question whether a piece is the original antique (introduced in 1888 by Adams Glass) or the more recent Moon & Star pattern by L.E. Smith or L.G. Wright. In this case there's no question; the hollow stem indicates it was definitely made by Adams (catalog image picture 5). The cake salver measures 10 inches (25.4cm) in diameter (slightly larger at the flared lower edge of the rim) and stands 7 inches (17.8cm) tall to the rim. The base measures 5 inches (12.7cm) in diameter. This is a high quality work in vintage American glass. It is large and heavy, which accounts for the high shipping cost. Cake salver is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, scratches or repairs. No discoloration or cloudiness in the glass. See description and pictures for details.
