You simply apply power, wait about 30 seconds (first run only) then run the train. When running and stopping, changing direction, you need not wait the 30 seconds, as capacitors are fully charged and hold a charge for a few hours. The BCR battery is a $30.00 value! Everything operates as new, all lights. Mars lights, sounds and yes Proto Station sounds work great. When the Proto Station sound is activated (see owners manual) It's the "Chief" Train number 19 from LA to Chicago. Very nice feature for it's age. The ABA set is a great runner, no issues. No scratches, nothing broken or missing. Extra traction tires are included. The original boxes are very nice and crisp, just like brand new.
