Julius Keilwerth SX90R Vintage FinishProfessional Alto Saxophone The Julius Keilwerth SX90R alto saxophone is built to be a sonic powerhouse. With its unique enlarged bow and bell sections it creates the big, dark vintage sound reminiscent of the great Conn and Buescher saxophones of the 1940's. The SX90R family features four optional finishes: Shadow Black (shown in photos) over a nickel silver body, and a traditional German brass body with choices of lacquered brass finish, black finish with gold brass bell, and vintage finish. Seams are left visible on the vintage version to complement the style and all variations are sealed with a hard lacquer to protect their finishes. Brushed nickel keywork complements the vintage variation, while polishing is applied to the black and brass versions, and all include natural mother of pearl buttons. The "R" designation in SX90R reflects that the tone holes are rolled and flared to contribute to greater projection, while giving a softer feel and extending pad life. In consideration that each player has differently sized hands, rather than having afixed one-size fits all geometry, the SX90R features adjustable palm keys for the ultimate in ergonomics. To round out its smooth operations, the SX90R includes a G# key lifter that alleviates stickiness, the most common saxophone problem, and arguably making it the most seriously built alto prepared for getting down to the business of producing professional music.
