Description: The Northwood factory of Indiana, Pennsylvania became part of the National glass company at the turn of the 20th century. During this time the company produced opalescent glass in a number of patterns. One extremely hard to find design became known as the National #17 bouquet produced in three opalescent colors, blue, clear and canary yellow. The line was advertised in the 1901 company catalogue as a bouquet vase, and is no longer made. This example in the yellow opalescent hue reacts brilliantly in the presence of ultraviolet light as pictures reveal. The pressed pattern resembles a beaded oval design alternating with a cut star emblem circling the bottom portion of the piece. The attractive base adds to the intrigue. The base stands 9 3/4 tall with the base spanning 3 1/8 diameter. The creamy opalescent ruffled top measures 3 1/4 across at the widest. In factory original condition with the only damage being a small chip (roughly .5 cm in size) on the base (difficult to see and shown in the photos). No other damage or repairs noted. The picture of the bottom shows very minor mold seams and there are a couple of interior straw marks, which happens as it is being made, mentioned for accuracy. A chance to add a truly rare piece to your opalescent glass or vase collection! This item is secondhand and being sold AS-IS!
