Description: **** GENUINE REBAR PEN BODY **** **** Pen Body Only **** This listing is for ONE (1) Genuine Steel Rebar pen blank to fit the Knurl GT Ballpoint or the Raw Series Rollerball, as pictured in the photos. Both kits can be found at PSI. This blank has been drilled; a 3/8” brass tube glued in and faced off in a metal lathe to the proper length. The rebar has been cleaned (but not to bare steel) with a wire wheel, Then a coat of clear coat has been applied. Lightly file or clean out the clear coat from the inside of the tube and at this point you can just assemble it on the kit of your choice. The Knurl GT kit is available in Chrome, Chrome & Black, Antique Brass, and Gunmetal. The Raw Series rollerball is available in brass, stainless, and aluminum. BUT this listing is for the blank only; the kit is not included but is available from PSI and others. The body is 1/2" Rebar. The REBAR pen body is very unique and not like the standard pen blanks that you buy. / Blank #142 ABOUT REBAR: Rebar (short for reinforcing bar), also known as reinforcing steel. Common rebar is made of unfinished tempered steel. Rebar is used as a tension device in reinforced concrete and masonry structures to strengthen and hold the concrete in compression. The majority of rebar are deformed, as opposed to round. Rebar's surface is patterned to form a better bond with the concrete. The ribs and depressions on its surface can increase the bond strength with concrete and prevent slippage. The pattern vary but usually there are two raised lines running the length of the bar 180˚apart with a spiral pattern between them. The deformed rebar is NOT ROUND. The diameter across the raised bars is larger than the diameter opposite the bars. Rebar is tempered steel that is case hardened. The core is alloy steel but the closer to the outside the harder the steel gets. This makes drilling it a real problem.
