Description: Feel the cold sting of salty winter wind in your face when you view FADED BEACH COTTAGES. This ORIGINAL watercolor draws you into echos of the past, capturing stalwart, weathered and mostly empty old homes bracing against a cold wind in the twilight of Samoa Beach, California. These old abodes huddle together amidst the sand and blowing sea grass during the winter when they’re mostly empty. Need a conversation piece? Hear the wind and feel the the chill of weather off the bay with this 14x20 STUNNING watercolor scene. Created With layers and layers of transparent M. Graham high quality paint, this watercolor is sure to be a focal point for your home or office. Step back in history to Samoa California—uniquely located on a narrow peninsula on Humboldt Bay, Here, these COMPANY houses still grace the landscape with their simple rustic and weathered beauty. Only a step above a cabin, company housing provided a family with only the very basics of living in a spectacular setting. With the bay on one side and the ocean on the other, these simple quaint company homes were built on the Samoa Peninsula in the early 1900s to house the PALCO Lumber Mill employees close to the worksite in the peninsula. Now the cottages are occupied by fisher people and summertime vacationers who love spending time close to the ocean watching the parade of fishing vessels going to and returning from work on Humboldt Bay and the open sea. Beware. At night when the light are out and the house is quiet, you may hear the distant sounds of the nearby sawmill on the Samoa Penninsula and the singular scent of the adjacent pulp mill which belched out noxious fumes well into the 1990s. Look out the window and you’ll watch an amazing variety of crab boats motoring out to sea through the notorious North Jetty. Now here’s a little history about me as an artist. Arts critic: “Debbilyn Tuttle is an interesting Impressionism painter with a rare ability to make watercolors SHOUT with vibrancy! Debbilyn’s art is bold and always worthy of stand-alone presentation. Most collectors buy Tuttle art for its impact and unique style which are anything but shy. Beware. They might hold you hostage. You will recognize Tuttle art for the amount of paint the artist uses. Not typical for a watercolor artist, Ms. Tuttle is generous if not heavy-handed, but wait! She’s trendy in this community and manages to pull it off like a boss. She is an artist to be sure and watch in the future.” “FADED BEACH COTTAGES” will arrived signed and ready for your custom framer. If you have a love of history and particularly the fishing industry of Humboldt Bay as well as the mill history of the California Redwoods, you will cherish this piece and the actual realistic depiction of company housing as it stands—now privately owned. I would recommend having this simple architectural watercolor in a study, office or living room where it has no competition because you can’t pass by it without being drawn in.
