Description: Panama - California Exposition - San Diego Camino Real Brass Bell. This is a cast bronze bell commemorating the event, with a Crow on the top. The piece stands 4 1/2 inches tall, 2 3/4 inches wide. A great piece of San Diego, California and Balboa Park history. Great gift for a California historian or long time local family. The Panama-California Exposition was held in San Diego in 195 to celebrate the completion of the Panama Canal. San Diego would be the first American port of call north of the Panama Canal on the Pacific coast. The event was held in Balboa Park. The Panama–Pacific International Exposition was a world's fair held in San Francisco in 1915, also to celebrate the completion of the Panama Canal. There were several different cast bronze souvenirs from the events including Mission Bells and these Camino Real bells. There is a Los Angeles version of this bell with bear. I believe the San Diego version with the crow to be very rare, as I have only seen one other image of it. In good condition with no substantial damage. Please see all photos as they are part of the description. More photos are available upon request. I will packaged very carefully in recycled packing to save waste and make sure it arrives safely. If any item arrives damaged you agree to let me know ASAP, and to keep the packing. If a claim needs to be made the USPS requires photos of the box, how it arrived, the packing and the item.
