Rare Promo Nitty Gritty Dirt Band Will The Circle Be Unbroken Railroad Tie Spike

Description: This is a very rare promotional item commissioned by William Bill McEuen for the groundbreaking Will The Circle Be Unbroken album that merged country and bluegrass legends with the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band. I don't know if they were distributed to record stores or were meant as gifts for the participants in the making of this once in a lifetime gathering of talent. This piece consists of a section of a railroad tie topped by a a genuine spike, emblazoned on both sides by the albums title. It is quite substantial measuring about 9" long x 8" tall (9.5" tall including spike) x 3" thick and weighing in a hefty 5+ pounds. John McEuen stated that he understood that around 200 of them were produced. It is adorned on one side with a paper copy of the album cover and on the other side a paper copy of a popular photo of band. These are mounted directly on the railroad tie's surface. The face with the Circle album cover is smoother than the other side and may be lightly sealed, but certainly not by a thick decoupage treatment. The other sides surface is rougher, so the image of the band does not lay as flat. There are some mounting adhesive stains around the album image and a few chips in the band image. These don't really stand out as they are pretty in sync with the antique look of this special piece. It does have an authentic railroad tie odor if one places their nose close and takes a good whiff. Some may find this objectionable. I never really noticed it before in the many years I have owned it. If you are a true fan and collector of The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band related memorabilia this item could be a great addition and standout piece to display and enjoy! Re: Shipping. I have listed it being sent in a USPS flat rate Priority Mail large box. If I come up with a decent box I may be able to send it via ground advantage and get the cost down a little. Ebay has added a twist that I was not aware of. They say I have to list a Flat Rate for shipping even when using a Flat Rate box, so I have done so.
