Wild joined his father Thomas Wild in purchasing Albert Work in 1895. Upon his father’s death in 1898, he became sole proprietor adding St. Mary’s Works in Longton in 1905. As Wild’s business prospered, he acquired other factories and pottery business. By the early 1920’s he owned or controlled 15 potteries. Thomas’ sons, Thomas E. and Frederick C., were admitted to the partnership in 1917 and the father retired in 1932. The business was incorporated as Thomas C. Wild & Sons, Ltd. Thomas C. Wild & Sons (Royal Albert) took over Paragon China in 1960, then merged with the Lawley Group to become Allied English Potteries in 1964, subsequently Paragon and Royal Albert joined the Royal Doulton Group in 1972. The mark on both the cup & saucer is identified as used in 1960's-1970's time period by the Royal Albert website (royalalbertpatterns). The Montrose shape was introduced in 1962. Alberta’s flower is the Wild Rose. It is a flower that is able to grow on mountains and in meadows and the bush produces berries called rose hips. Rose hips can be picked in the late summer and are an excellent source of vitamin C. The wild rose has been the official flower of Alberta since 1930.
