Description: Welcome to my listing for a lot of 5 language training course books from the Russian Basic Course taught at the Army Language School at the Presidio of Monterey, California. The books are dated from 1961 to 1962, and all belonged to the same student-soldier, who wrote his name and some other basic info on every copy. The books are softcovers measuring about 8.5 by 11 inches, informally printed (mimeographed?) and bound with plastic comb binding strips. While they're clean and complete, they do show wear from their use in the course: scuffing and edgewear, owner's name on each book's cover plus some margin notes and doodling inside and on covers (see photos.) The comb bindings are functional. A fascinating memento of the Cold War era!
