"Otokogi" selvedge denim features a 100% Texas cottoncomposition, known for its short fibre length. This results in truly rough andirregular yarns which, in true Samurai fashion are twisted strongly to producea very rugged fabric face. Since its first ever production run in 1998,the fabric has been reworked over a span of 8 years. Thefourth rendition of the "S0510XX" denim was released in 2006 andofficially given the "Otokogi" moniker, which has remained unchangedto this day. Here's an interesting historical tidbit about the"Otokogi" denim. The first ever edition of this fabric released in1998 as the S510XX model actually featured a classic red SelvedgeID. Following the second renewal of the fabric in 2003, the addition ofthe now iconic silver lamé "Katana" Selvedge ID has become a mainstayin the Samurai lineup. Featuring a custom-made goatskin leather patch,the chǒu (丑)character represents the second of the twelve Earthly Branches.
