Description: Silk Shirt Wrinkles- First off, sorry about the wrinkles. There is a good reason on why the wrinkles are there. Once I buy a silk shirt I don't hang it up but instead fold it up and put it in a secure breathable container to prevent insect(s) from damaging the shirt. You know those moths & silverfish love to poke holes in silk items if they get a chance. Now I've never seen a silk moth or bugs around my clothing items before, but as mom always said, "better to be safe than sorry." I'd hate to learn an expensive lesson since these Tori Richard silk shirts aren't cheap. So that's why the shirt is wrinkled in the pictures. Why Not Remove The Wrinkles Prior?- I could've easily steamed out most of the "noticeable" deeper wrinkles for the ebay listing pictures but I was thinking the silk shirt is going to end up at your doorstep wrinkled & creased anyways because I ship out all my Tori Richard high end silk shirts in a USPS Priority Mail Padded Envelope. I don't ship silk shirts in a cardboard box because even though it will arrive with less wrinkles, the silk shirt will still have major fold creases which won't go away unless it's dry cleaned professionally or steam is used. Silk is a delicate fabric so any fold or crumple will cause wrinkles pretty easily unlike thicker clothing materials. If you've ever gotten a silk top in the mail before it most likely looked like somebody was practicing their origami skills on it. LOL! Leaving a silk shirt as is with wrinkles and all also prepares you in advance that you will need some type of wrinkle removing method which I will go over in the following paragraph. So How Do You Remove The Wrinkles At Home?- You have basically 3 options. The first which I highly recommend is take it to a dry cleaner when you first get it. They can get out those stubborn wrinkles and clean off any minor surface dirt scuffs/marks on the shirt without damaging it for on average $8-$12(prices can vary higher or lower depending on the state your in). Trust me there will be a lot of deep wrinkles & creases when you open your USPS Padded Envelope package. The good news is you're not paying the extra $5+ for USPS cardboard shipping($14.92) so the $5 savings can be used towards your first dry cleaning. The $5 savings on shipping means you "could" roughly be paying minus the shipping savings just around $6-$7 if you take it to a dry cleaner. Plus I'm selling these Tori Richard silk shirts well below MSRP so you can also think with all the money you're saving off of MSRP that your first 4 or 5 dry cleanings are free in a sense. LOL! Silk is considered a delicate fabric so it does cost a tad bit more to dry clean because it takes extra time & care versus say a cotton shirt. The second option is you can only permanent press the shirt at the dry cleaners. This method only removes the wrinkles from the shirt. There is no dry cleaning of the shirt. The advantages of permanent pressing the shirt only is it's around $5 cheaper than dry cleaning and you can leave on the MSRP tags just in case this is a gift for someone. I would recommend permanent pressing your shirt only if you see no visible dirt stain(s)/scuff(s) or you can live with a few faint dirt scuffs here and there because it's in a concealed area. Lastly, you can steam it with a handheld steamer. Tori Richard's stores in Hawaii prefer handheld steamers which is why I use a handheld steamer for minor subtle wrinkles. Steaming is less likely to damage your silk shirt due to human error versus using a iron on silk setting. Whatever method you decide on, with the proper care & cleaning, a silk shirt can easily last decades. How Will This Tori Richard Shirt Fit On Me?- I know some of you may have never bought a Tori Richard Hawaiian shirt or any Hawaiian shirt before so I'll try to simplify on how this Hawaiian silk shirt should fit on you. Being from Hawaii, I do have first hand knowledge on how Hawaiian shirts fit. LOL! A silk thread is actually 4 times tougher than a steel thread of the same thickness. Wow! This is why depending on the quality of the silk, a silk garment could last a lifetime with the proper care. I personally have talked to people who have owned a Tori Richard silk shirt for decade(s) and they still wear it till this day. Silk can't get wet is another misconception people have. Yeah, for sure some super delicate silks like chiffon do not do well when it gets wet but the majority of silk garments are totally fine in light rain or being hand washed in water. Lastly, silk shrinks easily? It will without the proper care like any other fabric. Linens, bed sheets, cotton shirts will all shrink if you throw them in the dryer. Silk is no different. Just avoid throwing your silk shirt in the dryer. Always air dry. Simple. Bottom line, improper care & human error is why silk garments shrink. However, we all know lot's of dry clean only items can be hand washed and hung dry after. I would say after measuring thousands of clothing items, a medium in one brand can be sized much smaller or bigger than a medium in another brand because of the design cut or the material itself. This is why any customer of mine who were reluctantly forced to finally figure out their technical clothing measurements because of my no buyer's remorse refunds brings a smile to my face.
